Question #74467

Hi,

How can I decide which of two spectra are 1-iodopropane and 2-iodopropane. (I cant attach the spectra but they are on google)
Using the concepts of correlation charts, line intensity and multiplets.

Answer on question # 74467

H1 NMR spectra of 1-iodopropane

Total three type of Hydrogen present

(A) At 2.9991 ppm triplets 2 hydrogen

(B) At 1.659 ppm hexate(Multiplate) 2 hydrogen

(C) At .820 ppm Triplets 3 hydrogen

A and C type hydrogen are show triplets but at position A hydrogen are deshelding show higher value because attach to more electronegative atom

H1 NMR Spectra of 2-iodopropane

Total 2 type of Hydrogen present

(A) At 3.795 ppm septate 1 hydrogen

(B) At 1.466 ppm doublate 6 hydrogen
