Hydride ions (H⁻) are well-known to chemists, but being stronger proton-acceptors than water, they react with water to form strongly alkaline solutions. So it's not possible to find H⁻ in solution. Free hydride anions exist only under extreme conditions and are not invoked for homogeneous solution.
