In thermodynamics, a spontaneous process is a process which occurs without input of matter or electrical energy into the system. A spontaneous process in a completely isolated system is characterized by an increase in entropy.

The second law of thermodynamic states that a spontaneous procedd increases the entropy of universe. Universe >0.A Negative value of ΔG indecates a Spontaneous process and +ve ΔG indecated a non-spontaneous process and a ΔG of zero indecated the equilibrium in system.
