Compound (A) , C4H10O is found to be soluble in sulphuric acid.(A) does not react with sodium metal or KMnO4. When (A) is heated with excess of HI . it is converted into a single alkyl halide . what is the structural formula??

A is C2H5-O-C2H5 Diethyl ether.

Reaction with HI is next:

C2H5-O-C2H5 + HI --> C2H5OH + C2H5I

C2H5OH + HI --> C2H5I + H2O
