pipe line (carbon steel ) was filled with water ph 6.6 after almost two years we checked line sample it is 8.2ph
can you explain what reaction can increase ph

pH become more alkali, it means that during that time underwent someneutralization processes and it could be dissolving of Fe, that is the component
of carbon steel.


Fe + 2H⁺ = Fe²⁺ + H₂ or something like that.
