Cbz protection method includes treatment of amino acid in excess of aryl amines in presence of sulphonyl chloride and N -methyl imidazole in dichloromethane so that aryl amides are formed .

Boc method of protection - also called tert butoxy carbonyl method in which under aqueous or anhydrous condition, amino acid is protected by treating it with di tert butyl dicarbonate in presence of strong base like sodium carbonate in acetonitrile solution using DMAP as base and BOC group is added. This BOC group is removed by treating with strong acid like triflouroacetic acid .
