CH_3CHO \xrightarrow\text{PCC}CH_3COOH

Ethanoic acid is treated with ethanol to give ethyl ethanoate in presence of dil. sulphuric acid

CH_3COOH + C_2H_5OH \xrightarrow\text{H+}CH_3COOC_2H_5 + H_2O
