What is the molecular shape around each C atom of C2F2
The molecular shape around each carbon atom of the C2F2 molecule is linear. Starting with its Lewis structure, the C2F2 molecule has a total of 22 valence electrons, 4 from each of the two carbon atoms and 7 from eachof the two Fluorine atoms.
The two carbon atoms form three linear covalent bonds by contributing three of their unpaired electrons each to form a triple bond.
Also, each carbon atom forms a single covalent bond with one Fluorine atoms. The molecule is therefore linear
