Expert's answer

Answer on Question #64887 – Chemistry – Inorganic Chemistry

How to remove copper impurities from metallic aqueous solution?

Solution.

The hydrolytic cleaning method removes contaminants (in your case, cooper) that precipitate out of solution at lower pH, than metallic element in solution.

Another method of purification is electrolysis.

2e+Cu2+(aq)Cu(s)(cathode)2 \mathrm{e}^{-} + \mathrm{Cu}^{2+}(\mathrm{aq}) \longrightarrow \mathrm{Cu}_{(s)} (\text{cathode})

If metal ions in solution have much more reactivity than cooper, they wouldn't take part in electrolysis process and we will purify solution from copper impurities
