Question #15106

Why does Magnesium Carbonate decompose at a cooler temperature at a cooler temperature than sodium carbonate?

Expert's answer

Because the strength of the chemical bond between the compound containing
calcium are stronger than between magnesium in a similar compound. Therefore, to
break those bond (in the case of magnesium) need less energy (and less
temperature).
