What is the oxidation number for elements in group 14?

Group 14, or group IVA, contains C, Si, Ge, Sn and Pb. Carbon can every
oxidation number from -4 to +4, as can silicon. The most common oxidation states
of Ge, Sn and Pb are +2 and +4, Ge can also have +1 and +3, but these don't have
negative oxidation states since they are metals.
