the work function for an unknown metal is -817kj mol. Will light with a wavelength of 110 nm trigger the photoelectric effect? If so, what is the velocity of the electron ejected? The mass of an electron is 9.11 x10-31 kg.

Since here we have calculated velocity for a mole of electrons instead of single electron. So we need to make it for single electron.

In your last few steps, you wrote "Thus v2= 266 *103 * 2/m here m=
9.11 x10-31 kg. For 1 electron only v2= 266 *103 * 2/9.11 *10-31
*6.022*1023" From what I thought it should be 532KJ/mol -:-
9.11*10-31Kg I do not understand why you are using Avogadro's number
once again and how you are cancelling out the units of KJ and Kg to
receive the final units of m/s.
