Candela is one of the seven SI units used to measure light intensity. The luminous intensity of an ordinary candle is approximately equal to one candela, but sometimes there are light sources with values of one million, trillion or more candelas. In such cases, it is convenient to use metric prefix, such as tera (denoting multiplication by 10 ^ 12 or 1000000000000) or mega (10 ^ 6).
