Question #92969

A chemist should wait 10 to 15 seconds after dispensing a volume of titrant before reading is made. Explain why the wait is a good laboratory technique.

Expert's answer

Since every molecule or ion has it's own diffusion speed in a solution, it take some amount of time to completely mix with the solution and interact with other ions. Thus one should wait for 10-15 seconds before reading is made. also in some cases when we add some amount of titrant it goes to a particular part of solution, so for mixing completely it takes time.
