Solution:
a) 2 moles of NO react to form 2 moles of NO 2
This is a 1:1 ratio
This means that NO 2 will form at the same rate that NO reacts, because as 1 mole of NO reacts
1 mole of NO 2 forms.
Thus rate NO 2 is formed at will be 0.066 M/s
b) 2 moles NO reacts with 1 mol O 2
A 2:1 ratio
The O 2 will dissapear at half the rate of the NO, because 1 moles NO needs 1/2 mole O 2 to
react.
So rate of reaction of O 2 will be 0.033 M/s
