Answer to Question #75706 in General Chemistry for Vyea

Question #75706
Laboratory Question (The Standardization of a Sodium Hydroxide Solution)
A 4g mass of NaOH is dissolved in 5ml of water.

Question 1
i) What is the approximate molar concentration of the NaOH ?
ii) A 4mL aliquot of this solution is diluted to 500mL of solution. What is the approximate molar concentration of NaOH in the diluted solution? Express this molar concentration of NaOH to the correct number of significant figures and record.

Question 2
i) A 0.411g sample of potassium hydrogen phthalate, (molar mass = 204.44 g/mol) is dissolved with 50mL of deionized water in a 125mL conical flask. The sample is titrated to the phenolphthalein endpoint with 15.17mL of a sodium hydroxide solution. What is the molar concentration of the NaOH solution ? Express the molar concentration of NaOH to the correct number of significant figures.
