Answer: the difference between significant figures and exponential notations is that there is no
number entry, because the exponential notation shows the number of significant digits. For
example, in the number of 0.0025, the figures 2 and 5 are significant; in the exponential
notation this number looks like this: 2.5E-3, that is, the mantissa shows in this record that there
are two significant figures: these are 2 and 5.
