The mixture must be dissolved in water. Calcium carbonate is fairly insoluble in water and can be easily separated by filtration. The filtered solution contains sodium chloride and ammonium chloride, which can be crystallized by cooling the solution to low temperatures and then filtered. Crystals of sodium chloride and ammonium chloride then must be dried and can be separated by sublimation. Ammonium chloride sublimes upon heating, and sodium chloride left behind.
