why does running electricity through most water cause electrocution when we can observe that distilled water does not conduct electricity

The water conducts electricity because there are small amounts of calcium and magnesium salts dissolved in it. Distilled water does not have metal ions (e.g. Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ ) which contained in dissolved salts that’s why it does not conduct electricity.
