Calculate the volume of 1M acetic acid required to prepare 100 mL of 0.5M and 0.25M acetic acid. How much acetic acid would you take and how much water will you add to make 0.5M and 0.25M acetic acid?

If you want to use the serial dilution method, we can use the C1V1=C2V2 equation.
C1 = starting concentration.
C2 = final concentration.
V is volume.
V1=C2V2/ C1 For 0.5M
V1=C2V2/ C1
V1= 0.5 M x 100 ml = 50 ml
Vw= 50 ml
For 0.25M
V1= 0.25 M x 100 ml = 25 ml
Vw= 75 ml
Answer: 50 ml and 25 ml; 50 ml and 75 ml
