Acid rain is a rain that has unexpectedly low (i.e. acidic) pH. It happends because of a lot of oxides, for examle, oxides of sulfur(IV) and nitrogen(IV), lift up in the atmosphere and mix with water, producing sulfurous and nitric acid, respectively. Then they precipitate as rains.
