Why is the formula NaK incorrect?

Those are both cations, meaning that their ion forms of Na+ and K+ have a positive charge. Positive and positive repel each other. But perhaps sodium-potassium alloy. NaK has been used as the coolant in experimental fast neutron nuclear reactors.
