Filtration can’t be used to remove soluble substances from the liquid. It removes only insoluble substances. Evaporation (with a subsequent liquid condensation) can be used to remove soluble substances from the liquid. The solvent is lost during evaporation, but it can be collected back by the condensation. When we use to separate a solution using evaporation we are left with the “dry” solid.
