in the periodic table, O is present in 2nd period while S is present in the 3rd period. As we know that the number of shells are increased while moving down the group in the periodic table, so, we conclude that the atomic size of the elements increases from top to bottom. Hence, O2− has smaller atomic radius that S2− .
