Answer to Question #327671 in General Chemistry for intet

Question #327671

 The fermentation of glucose produces ethanol and carbon dioxide as follows: C6H12O6 --> 2C2H5OH + 2 CO2. How many grams of ethanol will be produced when 4 grams of glucose reacts in this fashion? (The molar mass of glucose is 180 g/mol while ethanol is 46 g/mol).

C2H12O6 --> 2C2H5OH + 2CO2

180 g C2H12O6 - 2×46 g C2H5OH

4 g C2H12O6 - x g C2H5OH

x = (4 × 2 × 46) / 180 = 2.0 g ethanol
