Enthalpy of Chemical Reaction- Thermochemical Equation
1. Write the thermochemical equation for the following reactions that occur at constant pressure:
a. Decomposition of mercuric oxide to mercury and oxygen gas requires 87. 1 kJ of heat
b. Combustion of hexane, to carbon dioxide and water, releases 3923.9 kJ heat
a. HgO(s) = Hg(s) + 1.5O2(g) - 87.1 kJ
b. C6H14 + 9.5O2 = 6CO2 + 7H2O + 3923.9 kJ
