 240 dm3 of air at s.t.p is compressed to 17 atmospheres in a compression tube. Determine the volume in dm3 occupied in the tube.

Given volume of air , V1= 240 dm3 and pressure P1= 1 atm

And on compressing to pressure P2=17 atm

volume V2 becomes

P1V1=P2V2

1×240=17×V2

V2 = 14.12 dm3

So, volume of air become 14.12dm3
