Titanium is a transition metal used in many alloys because it is extremely strong and lightweight. Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) is extracted from titanium oxide (TiO2) using chlorine and coke (carbon). what mass of C is needed to react with 1.25 mol of Tio2?

TiO2+C+2Cl2→TiCl4+CO2

TiO2=1mol=1.25mol

C=1 mol =x

2Cl2=2 mol

X=1.25 mol of carbon

=(1.25×1×12g/mol)

Ans= 15 grams
