Sodium Chloride has ionic bonds resulting to giant ionic structure.

It is soluble in polar solvents but not soluble in non-polar solvent like Kerosene

Menthol has an OH-group at C-3 and is readily soluble in many organic solvents like Kerosene.

Its Crystals has a giant molecular structure.

For sodium Chloride in Kerosene, the solute- solvent forces of attraction are weaker than individual solute and solvent intermolecular attraction.

For menthol in Kerosene the solute -solvent forces of attraction are great enough to overcome solute-solute and solute-solvent forces of attraction.
