Question #278889

Nitrogen oxide is a pollutant commonly found in smokestack emissions. One way to remove it is to react it with ammonia. (a)Write the balanced equation for this reaction and (b) calculate how many liters of ammonia are required to change 12.8 L of nitrogen oxide to nitrogen gas? 4NH3 + 6NO → 5N2 + 6H2O

b)

Molar mass of NO=30.01

12800/30.01=426.52moles

Molar mass of NH3=17.031

17.031×426.52×4/6

=4,842.71

= 4.84271L
