5.1 % acetic acid solution means 5.1 mL of acetic acid in 100 mL ofsolution.

Since density = 1.00 g/mL, 5.1 g in 100 mL solution.

or 51 g in 1000 mL (1 L)

moles of acetic acid = mass/ molar mass

= 51 g / 60 g/mol

= 0.85 moles.

So we have 0.85 moles of acetic acid in 1 L of solution.

Hence molarity = 0.85 M
