Question #268646

Identify if the given set is a valid set of quantum numbers? Explain your answer.

a. n = 2,  l = 2,  ml = 0, and  ms = -1/2

b. n = 2,  l = 1,  ml = -1, and ms = -1/2

c. n = 3,  l = 0,  ml = 0, and ms = 1

Option A and C are not correct.

Option A is not correct because its not possible for principal quantum number and azimuthal quantum number to be of same value. The principal quantum number value must always be bigger.

Option B is not correct because spin quantum number can only have two values which are (1/2) or (-1/2) so it's not possible to have a value such as 1 .
