What are the characteristics of the periodic table?
The periodic table is an organized array that comprises chemical elements arranged in the order of atomic numbers. The array is arranged from the lowest element, hydrogen, to the last element with the highest atomic number, which is oganesson with 118 atoms. The periodic table has the following characteristics;
1. The organization array is grouped in vertical columns designated with numbers 1 to 18.
2. Elements on the periodic table in a given group share similar chemical properties, such as the number of electrons in the outermost shell of electron configuration.
3. Arrangement of elements on the periodic table is done from left to right, with the left side comprising metalloids and the right-side comprising non-metals.
4. The elements found on the periodic table on the horizontal rows are known as periods.
5. On the periodic table, the noble gases are placed on the extreme right side.
