Why ATP is the currency of energy
But why not GTP ,and CTP and TTP currency of energy
ATP is an excellent energy storage molecule to use as "currency" due to the phosphate groups that link through phosphodiester bonds. Relevant to separate ATP and GTP, which are both purines, from UTP, CTP, and TTP which are pyrimidines. ATP was random or was just thermodynamically the most favorable, but I can shed light on where other nucleotides are used in metabolism.
