In a container of volume V maintained constant, a volume of 30.0 mL of ethanol is mixed in the presence of Haq, ions with a volume containing a mass of 15 g of methanoic acid. A state of equilibrium is established at an instant t with the following equation :
HCOH +CH,CH,OH + HCO,CHÚCH + H2O
By means of an acid-base titration, the quantity of matter (the number of mole) of the acid remaining alone is determined experimentally at each instant t of the reaction and then, we deduce the number of moles of ester formed at that instant t, we get 0.26 mol of ester at equilibrium.
1. Determine the yield y of this esterification reaction knowing that the density of the ethanol is 0.785 g/ml.
2. Determine the equilibrium constant K, of the reaction between methanoic acid and ethanol.
3. Deduce the equilibrium constant of the hydrolysis reaction of ethyl methanoate.
Given: H=1; C = 12; 0= 16.
Methanoic acid-0.06
Ethanol-0.57
Ester-0.26
