Question #159066

The reaction of Iron with excess amount of HCl acid is described in the balanced chemical equation below: Fe(s) + 2HCl(aq) -> H2(g) + FeCl(g)

If 4.00g of iron completely reacted, how many moles of HCl must be consumed according to the stoichiometry

Expert's answer

Moles of Fe that reacted is given by ;

Moles= 4/55.8= 0.07moles

Mole ratio= 1:2

Therefore moles of HCL reacted are 0.07×20.07×2 = 0.14moles
