Describe ways to curb the destruction of ozone in the stratosphere
NASA defines global warming as the heating effect of the earth due to human activities precisely burning of coal fuels. Global warming differs from climate change in that global warming is primarily caused by human activities while climate change may occur naturally though sometimes may be caused by human activities. (NASA, n.d).
One of the methods to find a solution to any problem is by starting with a root cause analysis. What exactly causes global warming? The major and the minor causes of global warming?
Global warming is caused by mainly a higher amount of greenhouse gasses than the normal level thus causing the greenhouse effect. According to the united states environmental protection agency EPA, carbon (iv) oxide is the leading greenhouse gas with 81% followed by methane which constitutes only 10%(EPA,2020).
The major source of CO2 is burning fossil fuels to produce energy such as in industries, electrical generation plants, cars and domestic uses.
The first step to minimize the level of these emissions if not to stop them completely is by trying to put in place strategies to minimize the production of CO2. One of the ways could be by trying to come up with alternative methods of energy production such as green energy, this includes the use of dollar panels, using windmills and other renewable means of energy to produce electricity rather than burning of Coal fuels.
Secondly, enacting laws that minimize or prohibit the use of coal fuels can also be a great millage towards combating global warming. One of such examples of legislative strategies is the recent announcement by the UK government to phase out cars that use fossil fuel and replace them with electric cars(BBC,2020).
Finally, It is very important to create awareness, everyone should be informed on the need for environmental conservation through mass awareness, campaigns and publications. The responsibility should not just be bestowed on the government but rather make it a collective responsibility.
