Explain how Dalton supported his atomic theory using the fundamental laws of matter?
According to John Dalton, the atom is neither created nor destroyed but it can be transformed from one form to another. When the reactants react to give the products the bonds which bind the atoms to break and then new bonds are formed in the products
For example, when sodium (2Na) and chlorine (CI,) reacts with each other, sodium chloride is
formed
2Na(s) + Cl2(g) = 2NaCl(s)
The bond which bind the two atoms of sodium and the bond binding the two atoms of chlorine break simultaneously Then the broken bonds combine to form the new compound sodium chionde in this way, the atoms are not destroyed but transformed into other forms. Therefore, the atomic theory explains the chemical reaction
