Answer to Question #152632 in General Chemistry for Minowa Vang

Question #152632
Cu(s) + AgNO3(aq) ---> CuNO3(aq) + Ag(s)

Firstly we need to find the limiting reagent because its the limiting reagent that will be used.

If 64g of Cu react with 170g of AgNO3

Then 10g of Cu will react with xg of AgNO3

X=170×10/64

X=26.6g

This means AgNO3 is the limiting reagent

Now to calculate the theoretical yield

If 170g of AgNO3 yields 108g of Ag

Then 25g of AgNO3 yields yg of Ag

x=108×25/170

x=16g

Therefore the theoretical yield of silver is 16 grams
