High-pressure boilers facilitate the presence of dissolved gases like oxygen and Carbon Dioxide in water. Notably, oxygen in the presence of moisture at high temperatures attacks the boiler-plate that leads to boiler corrosion. To remove the dissolved oxygen from water can be done through a chemical treatment. Therefore, in the process, sodium sulphide or sodium sulphite is added to the water as a reducing agent.
