In spa 6.2 To demonstrate cation exchange capacity in a soil.

Why does the potassium chloride release/leach out the calcium ions into the soil solution??

I understand the idea behind cation exchange.... But what is it about the potassium chloride in particular that has the ability to kick out the calcium ions??

Calcium is Ca++
Potassium is K+
