Answer to Question #145403 in General Chemistry for BA

Question #145403
When HCl(g) is combined with NH3(g) in the laboratory, a white, crystalline solid that readily dissolves in water is produced. When 1.070 g of this new compound (see reaction scheme below) is combusted, three products (nitrogen, water, and hydrogen chloride) are produced as gaseous products. When gathered at room temperature (25 °C) and atmospheric pressure (1 atm), these gases occupy 1.470 L (in total) in the volume % indicated (see table). + O2 White, crystalline solid N2(g) + H2O(g) + HCl(g) Compound Using this data to guide you, determine the empirical formula for the new compound. answer WITH the correct number of significant figures. Show your work. Volume % of gases obtained N2 16.747% H2O 50.020% HCI 33.133%

There's no real need to start calculating the empirical formula

From the question we know the reactant which are HCl and NH3. So they are definitely going to produce Ammonium chloride which is the new compound. So NH4Cl is in its simplest form which makes it it's empirical formula
