The temperature of water must only be recorded while boiling when water temperature stops to rise or is constant.

The thermometer should be kept slightly tilted because due to convection currents within the boiling liquid bringing a slight cooler liquid incontact with the thermometer bulb when immersed, the thermometer will read a lower temperature than the boiling point. and it should not touch the walls of the beaker. The bulb should directly be in water .
