1)Test (Mixture of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) + Ammonium Chloride (NH4Cl) )
-observation (Sublimation occurs )
-complete the inference (Ammonium chloride sublimes).
There are way in separating mixtures of chlorides salts such as that of sodium chloride and ammonium chloride. It can be done by crystallization, filtration or sublimation. The easiest method among the three is separation by sublimation.
Ammonium chloride sublimes upon heating. Actually, the sublimation is a decomposition of ammonium chloride forming ammonia and hydrogen chloride. Sodium chloride on the other hand doesn't sublime and has a higher melting point than ammonium chloride. If we want to separate the mixture, we have to heat up to 330-350 degrees Celsius and collect the gas that will be produced.
2)-Test(1-Chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene + Na metal)
-Observation (Lassaigne’s extract)
-Inference (obtained Lassaigne’s extract may be used for qualitative determination of the presence of chlorine and nitrogen in an organic compound (1-Chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene))
3)-Test (Hexene + KMnO4)
-Observation (The colour change depends on whether the potassium manganate(VII) is used under acidic or alkaline conditions.)
-inference (If the potassium manganate(VII) solution is acidified with dilute sulphuric acid, the purple solution becomes colourless. If the potassium manganate(VII) solution is made slightly alkaline (often by adding sodium carbonate solution), the purple solution first becomes dark green and then produces a dark brown precipitate.)
4)-Test (Sodium nitroprusside + Lassaigne’s extract)
-Observation (Violet colour observed)
-Inference (sulphur (S) may be)
