Answer to Question #123409 in General Chemistry for Johannes Steven

Question #123409
A student conducted an experiment and find the density of an iceberg. A student then records the following readings: mass(425 plus minus 25)g, volume(405 plus minus 15) mL. (a) what experimental value should be quoted for the density of an iceberg? Compare your answer with the density of water which is 1.00x10^3 kg.Show any calculations necessary to justify your answer. (b) On the next day students repeated the experiment using the same two measurements of mass and volume which were repeated 10 times. Mean value of mass is 435 and SEM is 10. Mean value of volume is 417 and SEM is 5. What experimental value for the density of iceberg in this case? (c) are your results in (b) and (b) consistent? Justify your answer.
