The neem oil can be extracted by pressing seed kernel at normal temperature or at 40 or 50°C (cold pressed oil). The yield is 25 to 45%. Also, the neem oil of poorer quality can be extracted by solvent extraction of the seeds with ether, petrol ether, ethyl acetate, and dilute alcohol.
