As both sodium carbonate and lead carbonate both are solid but their solubility are different due to presence of cations. As in sodium carbonate sodium is the cation which is in alkali group and they are water soluble whereas lead carbonate has lead as cation which is not soluble in water and thus on solving in water and then by process of evaporation followed by crystallization we can separate both.
