Why hydroponics is useful for crop cultivation?

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. It is useful because this method does need to involve large areas of soil, allows to use only 1/20 th of water than that needed for soil-based growing; convenient harvesting; no dependence on weather conditions; less labor involved.
