The optical lobe is responsible for receiving impulses coming into the eyes; impulses are transmitted from the optical lobe into the fourth ventricle located on the narrow cavity called iter. Most animals do not have cavities of the optical lobe, but it can be found in frogs and is referred to as the optocoel cavity.
