Gas exchange is the process by which gasses diffuse across a surface such as water and body interface .It mainly occurs between the lungs and the alveoli and a network of capillaries

The air moves into the lung passage .

Gases are exchanged between air and alveoli .

The gases are transported through the blood capillaries then followed by internal respiration .

Lastly , cellular respiration takes place .

Gas Exchange in General Fish

Air rich water is pulled via the mouth and pressure pump through the gills . The presence of counter-current flow between the water and the capillaries of the gills creates a force that push out air poor in oxygen and pulls in that one rich in oxygen .
